Weekly Update
It’s been a busy last few weeks here at End Slavery Tennessee:
We are working hard in preparation of The Big Payback coming May 6th! Derri has been coordinating with board members, volunteer groups, and church partners to gather all willing persons to help us raise some much-needed funds and build new relationships with donors.
Survivors have been in and out like crazy as well. The team got a call on Friday at 5 p.m. to try and help a new victim, Sheila just left the office to take one of our survivors for her driver’s permit test, and she and Lizedny spent the morning working with another survivor we are working to transition. Christine has also been working out-of-office to help transport our girls to necessary appointments, therapy sessions, and visits.
We also received several Easter baskets from our Murfreesboro volunteers who coordinated with a youth group. Later that week an additionally large package full of candy came in that we piled into the baskets for some sweet treats for our survivors. And just this morning, we got a very large box from a sweet volunteer who donated several purses for our survivors to use. We work with so many generous and kind-hearted people that “Thank You” sometimes just doesn’t seem like enough.
We still have a lot to get done this week: some extra ramping up for our Big Payback campaign, survivor visits and discussions about next steps, and a meeting with Cissy Myatt from the Center for Nonprofit Management to do some strategic planning with us all. Just another normal week at the office.
