Case of Man Accused of Child Sex Trafficking Headed to Grand Jury
SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – A man accused of trying to sell a 15-year-old girl for sex acts will have his case presented to a Sullivan County grand jury.
Brockett Lang waived a hearing Monday.
Lang is charged with trafficking a child for a commercial sex act. Officials said it’s the first case of its kind in Sullivan County.
Detectives said they found the 15-year-old victim on a website that offers escort services. Investigators said they were able to capture Lang after setting up a meeting at a hotel.
Assistant District Attorney Julie Canter said because of a new law, Lang’s charge is now a Class B felony, carrying with it up to 12 years behind bars.
Canter said the 15-year-old victim is a runaway and is now in Department of Children’s Services custody.
