Weekly Update
Last Monday, one of our beloved survivors came back to visit us at the office. It was wonderful to see her again, know that she is okay, and we hope she will come back again more permanently soon!
On Tuesday, Shelia and Lizendy both finished the day talking to new referrals and working to meet needs and find resources available to each.
Wednesday morning started out with an emergency call from a survivor. After learning more about his story, the team was ready to get him the help he needed. Christine and Lizedny met him at the bus station that evening and worked with him all the next morning to get him services and help.
Our conference room has been busy with meetings as well this week. Allie and Kamrie hosted three youth groups this week – educating the groups and taking action via door hanger events in neighborhoods throughout the area. Some were completely amazed at the fact that this was or could even be happening! Derri hosted board member meetings, and a human trafficking subgroup meeting as well this week – working to educate and brainstorm new ways to engage sectors of our communities.
Karen has also been working hard with our new volunteer tracking system, Volgistics! Current volunteers can now login and record hours of volunteering and update their information.
We also had a great time over the weekend at our volunteer appreciation picnic! Thanks to everyone who came out! Glad we could spend the morning with everyone, have fun, socialize, eat and enjoy the company of like-hearted people! Special thanks to Whitt’s BBQ for catering and our volunteers who brought other tasty treats!
