Volunteer Voices

West Central had a small group but informative meeting this month.  The group went over information about setting up their team page for the Ride for Refuge and regarding their local newspaper's willingness to run promos about the event. Everyone was also encouraged to use Amazon Smile and to log their volunteer hours!  Renee, the owner of Dimples where the group meets, has been wanting for years to organize a human chess game and feels she has found her cause to create awareness for human trafficking and raise money through End Slavery Tennessee! What a creative idea.

The Franklin Group had a great meeting this week and welcomed several new faces. They were excited to have Lizedny. an ESTN case manager,  join them to share survivor stories and field lots of great questions. The group also discussed the Ride for Refuge in October and added some participants, and had the privilege of helping provide a birthday wish for one of the survivors.

Murfreesboro's meeting was highly rated this month. The group had a new volunteer who heard Dana speak at one of the local churches and decided to join in. They planned their silent auction basket for the Ride for Refuge, discussed opportunities for pre-advertising and fundraising for the event, and signing up as the Murfreesboro team. The group also reviewed the laws passed this session, gave survivor updates, and went over the needs list.  At the end, a gentleman sitting at the table next to the group quietly slipped them a $20.00 bill as he left, and one member brought some books to share with the library. Another member is close to a lady who calls herself a "prayer warrior" and she has a team of ladies who have begun praying daily for ESTN .
