ESTN Library Spotlight: Modern Slavery

by Clarice Grooms, ESTN Librarian

BOOK:    Modern Slavery

AUTHORS:    Alex Kent Williamson, Kevin Bales and Zoe Trodd

The book Modern Slavery opens the eyes of readers to the secret world of 27 million people - more than the total population of slaves transported from Africa during the transatlantic slave trade. The numbers alone gives a new definition to economic injustice. With research and personal stories, the authors report on perhaps the most horrific problem in our world today.

Kevin Bales is the president of Free the Slaves and advisor to the UN and the US and British Governments.  Alex Kevin Williamson of Harvard University is a board-certified pathologist specializing in pediatric and forensic pathology, and is a member of Physicians for Human Rights.  Zoe Trodd teaches in the history and literature department at Harvard University.
